Sonarpur Moonlight Foundation was founded in the year 2011 with the vision of becoming a leading organization to work in the mental health sector, to help to make a drug-free society and helping to contain the spread of HIV and Hepatitis. We mainly focus on providing mental health support to the mentally ill patients. We also want to create an impact in today’s society where drugs are poisoning the youth, domestic violence is rampaging and dangerous diseases are making our society inhabitable. Empower the women in our society by enlightening them about the various skills they can learn. We are working on anti- drug awareness as it helps stop the spread of AIDS & Hepatitis. Mentally ill patients who are suffering from addiction, depression, anxiety, and anger issues are treated in our foundation as we feel that a person with a good mentality will also make a good member of our society. During our journey, we received a lot of help from our local authorities and support from the government. We want to thank everyone and expect their support in our future endeavors. Prolonged usage of different substances leads to Mental Illness. Addicted users often suffer from HIV and Hepatitis B & C, often users never realize that they are diseased and they keep spreading the disease to other users or sexual partners. We as an organization dream to guide these lost individuals out of the dark dungeons into the sunlight. Depression, anxiety, impulsiveness, anger issues and violence is treatable; our society needs to address these problems as real problems and act accordingly. The majority of Injecting Drug addicts suffer from HIV and Hepatitis B or C. Treatment for these diseases is expensive so we seek to link them to various initiatives taken by the government, to help them treat themselves and society by taking precautions. The Sonarpur Moonlight Foundations' mission is to be recognized as one of the leading organizations equipped with the infrastructure to provide the best treatment for mentally ill patients as well as addicts. Our mission is to rehabilitate addicts through content treatment, indoor basis follow-up services, family counselling, and providing vocational training and making them self-dependent in society. We feel that mental health is the most important aspect of rehabilitation. A mentally sound youth directly results in a drug-free society and a society free of AIDS and Hepatitis B & C. While we were dealing with addicts we found out that a portion of them was suffering from HIV. After discussing with authorities we concluded that it was mainly transmitted among injecting drug users. Along with our focus on working on the mental welfare of our society, we also focus on the injecting drug users. We feel that a drug-free society will lead to the overall well-being of the patient and also the family members. We aim to provide a safe space for mentally ill patients and recovering addicts to express their thoughts or feelings, helping them lead a normal and socially accepted life.
