From data repositories to decision-making tools

The Demo-Blog partners have transformed five digital building logbooks (DBLs) from mere data repositories into decision-making tools for building renovation.

What if a digital repository could tell you how to make a building more sustainable? The Demo-BLog project has brought this idea to life by transforming five digital building logbooks (DBLs) into smart, user-friendly tools that guide users in real-life decisions. For almost four years, the pilots have demonstrated that by linking existing data sources into the DBLs, homeowners, housing providers, and construction professionals can make better-informed decisions.

Five DBLs, namely CHIMNI (UK), CLÉA (France), CAPSA (Germany), Woningpas (Flanders, Belgium), and CIRDAX (The Netherlands), have been further developed and tested in real-life case pilots. Each pilot addressed a different societal challenge, from improving energy efficiency and enabling community-driven action to supporting circular use of building materials.
